SSE Library, established in 2008, serves as a vital resource for students and faculty at the Symbiosis School of Economics. The library is divided into three main sections: the stack area, reading hall, and IRC section, providing a conducive environment for study and research.

The library has an extensive collection that focuses on Economics and related subjects. It provides access to e-journals, e-databases, and e-books through the SIU Library portal. It subscribes to important e-resources such as CMIE Prowess IQ, States of India, Economic Outlook, Consumer Pyramid, Industry Outlook, and EPW Research Foundation. These resources are designed to support students, teaching, and research activities, thereby enhancing scholarly communication.
Library Management and Memberships
All library functions are managed through KOHA Library management software, which facilitates efficient administration. The SSE Library also holds memberships with reputable organizations, including MCCIA and the Gokhale Institute, further enriching its resource offerings.
Access and Services
The Central Library provides remote access to e-journals, databases, and e-books. Additionally, it offers services such as inter-library loans, referral services, and plagiarism checking through Turnitin. These resources aim to comprehensively support academic needs.

Rules for the Members
Students, Faculty and Staff of SSE avail the facility by producing the Identity card of the SSE. I-card is the only mandatory criteria to avail SSE library membership.
Members should adhere to the dress code of the institute.
Reading Hall Members should carry their own material for study.
Library will terminate the member in case of misbehavior / violation of rules.

Library Services for in-house (SSE) Users
Inter Library Loan (ILL):
Library arranges to borrow Books that are not available in SSE library on Inter Library Loan from other Symbiosis libraries. This is done on an Institution-to-Institution basis. Such materials will have to be handled with utmost care and returned to the library well on time. This service is provided for academic and research purpose to the faculty, registered students of SSE and staff who are members of the SSE library. Members are requested to send a formal request to the library with complete bibliographic details of Book which can be accessed via the WEB-OPAC.
Referral Services:
Library offers individualized service to assist students, faculty, researchers and staff in locating the required information i.e. book or magazine/journal location in the library
Locate information in the library and elsewhere.
Answer specific information questions.

New Additions of Books:
Library brings out a monthly list of books added to the collection. This list is sent to the library users over the email.
Plagiarism Checking Service:
Library offers Plagiarism Checking Service using a ‘Turnitin’ tool to its registered users. Turnitin is leading originality checking and plagiarism prevention web tool which allows researchers to compare their contents against the massive databases to ensure the work is original before submission. SIU Central Library has a paid license to this tool and given account to SSE Library. At the moment library is checking Plagiarism for students’ assignment and dissertation as well as for faculties for their research articles on prior base intimation.
Document Delivery Service:
SSE library provides Document Delivery Service to its registered users. If the required articles or research papers which comes in the journals is available in the subscribed database then SSE library send the full text to its users and if the required information access in full text is not available in subscribed database then SSE library coordinates with its mother concern to provide its users with the requested materials.

Borrowing Rules
Books which are labeled / stamped as reference books are not for borrowing.
Library is authorized to declare/hold certain books as reference material according to the demand. The book may not be labeled as Reference material.
Old loose issue of magazines only can be borrowed. New/Latest issues and back volumes are for reference only.
Borrowing period for particular material can shrink according to the demand.

SSE library has tied up with the Maratha Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and Gokhale Institutes of Politics and Economics under the Institutional membership. These memberships provide access to valuable services and resources.

Participation in the activities including workshops, seminars, courses, lectures, presentations of the 32 committees of the Chamber. If it charged activity, Members are given a concession for participation.

Web OPAC is an Online Public Access Catalogue which allows library users avail the services of the library using Internet. Every library member gets the access of Web OPAC where he/she can check his/her circulation history, recommend new book titles to the library, create own reading list of favourite books etc.
Library members can access all e-resources through the library portal. To access these resources, users must log in using their institute email ID and password. The library users can access all e-resources purchased by the SIU Central Library, as well as all institutionally subscribed databases, e-books, and e-journals through the library portal.

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) has initiated the National Digital Library of India (NDL India) pilot project to develop a framework of virtual repository of learning resources with a single-window search facility. NDL India is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for leading Indian languages. It is being arranged to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular form of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is being developed to help students to prepare for entrance and competitive examination, to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources.
SWAYAM is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy.
The Shodhganga@INFLIBNET is set-up using an open source digital repository software called DSpace developed by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in partnership between Hewlett- Packard (HP). The DSpace uses internationally recognized protocols and interoperability standards. Shodhganga provides a platform for research scholars to deposit their Ph.D. theses and make it available to the entire scholarly community in open access. The repository has the ability to capture, index, store, disseminate and preserve ETDs (Electronic Theses and Dissertations) submitted by the researchers.
Students, Faculty, Visiting Faculty, Adjunct Faculty and Staff of Symbiosis School of Economics can access the SSE library services. Also other institute’s users of Symbiosis can refer the books of SSE Library in the Library Premises only. Identity card is mandatory to enter SSE Library.
Outside users who belong with other colleges’ apart from Symbiosis are allowed to refer the books inside the library premises. These users are requested to bring an official letter duly sign by their Librarian/Head of the Department/Guide/Principal and identity card of their college is mandatory to avail SSE services.
Can I bring the personal book in the library? You can carry own books to the library by making necessary entries in daily log register.

What are the overdue charges against late return of the book?
Over dues, as laid down hereunder, shall be charged from the students if they fail to return the book(s) on or before the deadline as indicated on the Due-Date-Slip in the book:
Fine will be charged including all Sundays and Holidays.
Rs.2.00 per book per day shall be charged
I have lost the library Book, What I require to do?
First you should immediately report to the circulation desk at the library. In case a book/magazine/Journal is lost; the borrower has to replace the same with the latest Edition/Version of the material. If the copy is out of print then the user has to pay the cost of the material along with the overdue amount of fine within 15 days from the reporting. Please download the form from the website and submit it duly filled to the Assistant Library In-charge.
Where can I make a suggestion to the library? “Suggestion Box” placed at the entrance of the library where you can drop-in your valuable suggestion(s). You can also email the suggestions at library@sse.ac.in
How can I recommend a book for purchase in the Library?
Students can give their recommendations through the Web OPAC. Login with your PRN fill the form and submit it.
How can I access the E-Recourses?
As it is mentioned on the web site under the E-Resources. You can access these databases through the login credentials of SIU Central library Gateway Portal which is been issued to all the registered students of SSE. Those who don’t know the credentials can contact to the library. Only Symbiosis students and faculty can access these databases through their own login credentials.
