Prof. Jyoti Chandiramani is an accomplished academician in addition to being an experienced researcher with a deep commitment towards institutional building. She is presently the Director of Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE) and the Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune, India. She is also the Head of the Symbiosis Centre for Urban Studies. She was the founding member of the Symbiosis Centre for Liberal Arts, the first liberal arts centre in the country, established in 2006. at.

Prof Jyoti presently teaches Urban Economic Development and Urban Mobility at the Masters level at SSE, which is the first school of Economics to offer a specialization in Urban Development. She has a rich teaching experience, including subjects like managerial economics, banking and finance, Indian economy, macroeconomics, international economics, and international economic cooperation. She has conducted numerous management development programmes (MDPs) for over 50 corporates, including Wipro, HP, Cognizant, Emphasis, and Godrej, to name a few.

Besides writing a few International Economics and International Trade textbooks, prescribed for the students of Pune University, she has jointly edited a book with Ramanath Jha on ‘Perspectives in Urban Development: Issues in Infrastructure, Planning, and Governance.’ Her areas of research interest are urban-centric, including Urban Infrastructure, Urban Transport, Urban Livability, and Urban Poverty. Dr. Jyoti has embedded the SDGs into the academics at SSE and in her research activities. A number of Ph.D scholars have been awarded their Ph.D. under her guidance. She has undertaken various research projects and consultancy in collaboration with NIUA, NABARD, ITDP, Government of Maharashtra, Sulochana Thapar Foundation, Cybage, and other reputed think tanks in India.

Dr. Jyoti was awarded the Rex Karamveer Global Fellowship Award in 2015 for her contribution to education. She has been awarded a number of fellowships including a UGC Fellowship in 2008-09 and a fellowship to study liberal arts education at Depauw University, USA. She has been invited as a delegate for the South Asian Economic Students Meet to Lahore in 2013. She was invited to be a Mentor for the Student’s Forum at the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Rector Conference, held in Prague organized by Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) in collaboration with Charles University, in 2016, as well as a visiting scholar to Macquarie University, Australia in 2018. She has been on the G 20 Steering Committee for University Connect since 2022. She is a board member of the Forum for India Development Cooperation (FIDC), and a member of the Working Group on the 'City Governance and Smart Cities' at NITI Aayog.
