MUN is all about debating and politics. Delegates come together representing different regions the world and aim at formulating a resolution that addresses the topic at hand. Leadership, critical analysis, public speaking, persuasion, negotiation are the main takeaways from participation apart from gaining insight into the dynamics of international relations and practice of the workings of the United Nations Organization through a completely realistic simulation. The SSE Model United Nations 2013 was held on 1st Feb 2013, in which the TY (BSc) students came together as part of their innovative on International Relations Paper to simulate the real United Nations by taking the role of a delegate of a country to discuss the crisis in Syria. Certificates for Best delegate, Best Speaker, Best Team, Best Position Paper were handed over to deserving participants post the conference.

The SSE Model United Nations 2015 was held on 3rd-4th March 2015, in which the TY (B.Sc.) students came together as part of their innovative on International Relations Paper to simulate the real United Nations by taking the role of a delegate of a country to discuss and deliberate on the following issues:

Disarmament of Security Council – DISEC

a) Taiwan Issue – Deciding its political fate

United Nations Human Rights Committee – UNHRC

a) Human trafficking in Southeast Asia

Certificates for Best Delegate, Best Position Paper, and High Commendation were handed over to deserving participants post the conference.

SSE MUN, 2016

The SSE Model United Nations was held on 6th and 7th of Feb 2016 after the great success of SSE MUN 2015. Certificates for Best delegate, Best Speaker, Best Team, Best Position Paper were handed over to deserving participants post the conference. To simulate the real United Nations the participants took the roles of delegates’ of countries to discuss and deliberate on the following issues:

Historic Security Council: Space Race

  • Economic and Social Council: The Chinese Stock Market Crash
  • The Human Rights Council: European Refugee Conflict.
  • The Nazi War Cabinet: Operation Barbossa
  • The General Assembly: Small Island a Developing States
  • FIFA: Electing the next chairman

The event was organized under the guidance of Director General Ali Muhammad and deputy secretary generals, Riddho Roy and Sahil Kumar with the help of an effective  Core Team.
The event was a success with a total of 80 participants from all over Pune as well as other cities.The response was very positive and we had participation from colleges all around India, and not just from the state. Certificates for Best Delegate, Best Reporter, Best Photographer and High Commendation were handed over to deserving participants post the conference.
