Badminton Inter-Batch 2017

Being the first inter-batch tournament to be organized, there was a lot of pressure on the Sports Council to make sure badminton was well organized and well executed.

In the past, inter-batch tournaments would not attract too many people as it was not sought to be a prestigious tournament. The main objective of the Council was to make this event one that would be enjoyable for both the spectators and participants.

15th of July, 2017, was when SSE held its inter-batch badminton tournament. The tournament was organized at the Symbiosis, Lavale campus and saw a record number of students turn up to cheer their fellow batch mates. The enthusiasm was evident by the paint on the students’ faces showing their support for their respective batch. The third years were spotted in red, the second years in blue and the first years in green. Banners waved around the courts and chants echoed through the room in support.

The tournament consisted of events such as, Men’s singles, women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles, all played with energy, passion and enthusiasm.

Every participant’s will and desire to win came through evidently as they put up absolutely mesmerizing performances on court. Competition kept every player on their toes while the excitement kept the spectators on theirs. In all, it was an experience in itself to witness the team work and drive each batch put in to give their best shot at winning. After all as the quote goes, “Winning is not everything, but the will to win is what makes it everything”.
