Topic : Slow Down Of Indian Economy And Its Impact On Indian IT Sector. Speaker : Mr.S S Balasubhramaniam, CFO, Zensar Technologies Ltd.


S. Balasubramaniam has over 25 years experience in Finance and Commercial functions. He graduated in Commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta in 1978 and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India. He started his career in Dunlop India Limited and then took over as General Manager Finance of Harrisons Malayalam Limited, Cochin, one of the largest producers of Rubber and Tea in India with over 18000 employees. In 2004, he joined RPG Life Sciences, Mumbai as Vice President heading the Finance, Secretarial and Materials portfolio of the Pharmaceutical Division in the RPG group.

The Sub Prime Crisis that started in US trigged recession in US and today in all globalized world one can expect its impact on rest of the world economies linked with US- directly or indirectly. So not being any exception is facing an economic slowdown which if not taken care of will lead to a recession in India too.

One of the most globalized sectors of Indian economy: Information Technology or commonly known as IT saw its effects quite early in the form of job cut, salary cut etc.

Mr. Balasubhramaniam was invited  to discuss the impact of a slowdown on Indian IT sector. He made aware the students about  how the slowdown took place because of expectations of the people and its effect on the business cycle. It was an interactive session full of humour along with information.
