Workshop on “Intellectual Property Awareness”
for Symbiosis School of EconomicsVenue: Classroom No 2, 4th Floor, SSE.

Resource Person: Dr. Amit Tiwari (Head, IPR -SIU)Intellectual Property (IP) promotes innovation and creates competitiveness in the international Market The limited right to exclude others from copying patented inventions, copyrighted original works of authorship, and trademarked brands and logos encourages innovators to invest their time and money.
The importance of IP has increased in recent decades, as evidenced by the growth in the portion of company value that stems from intangibles and the use of IP as an important tool in global competition. Given the growth in importance of IP, it is not surprising that awareness of IP has also grown. In the past, one had to resort to law books and legal journals to learn and keep up with recent developments about IP. The Agenda of this workshop was to create awareness among the faculty of the Symbiosis International (Deemed) University.
Workshop on “CMIE Database and EBSCO”

Venue: SSE Computer LABSymbiosis School of Economics organized a workshop on Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt Ltd., (CMIE) Databases and EBSCO Database on 10th July 2019 The students of MSc Second year were trained to get hands on experience about the subscribed databases like, Prowess IQ, Economic Outlook and Industry Outlook. Mr. Janardhan Reddy, K., Vice President, CMIE who was the Resource Person for the workshop explained about how to browse through and extract data from the e- databases.
Training session emphasized the benefits of e-databases and SSE students can make use of the information available and how to get analysis about the various industries and economies. The workshop was highly interactive and participatory. The training on this resource will help students in their dissertation, research paper, Internship Project’s, Class Assignments and in Research Activities.
Workshop on “Factiva”
Date; 23rd July 2019,
Time: 2 PM to 3 PM
Venue: SSE Computer LABSymbiosis School of Economics organized a workshop on “Factiva” business information and research tool owned by Dow Jones & Company on 23rd July 2019 The students of MSc first year were trained to get hands on experience about the subscribed databases. Factiva products provide access to more than 32,000 sources (such as newspapers, journals, magazines, television and radio transcripts, photos, etc.) from nearly every country worldwide in 28 languages, including more than 600 continuously updated newswires.
Training session emphasized the benefits of e-databases and SSE students can make use of the information available and how to get analysis about the various quality resources. The workshop was highly interactive and participatory. The training on this resource was helpful for students in their Internship Project’s, Class Assignments and in Research activities.
FDP on Basic Quantitative Techniques (using Software) for Social Science Research
Jointly Organized by: Symbiosis Teaching Learning Resource Centre (STLRC) and Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE) on 27th -28th June, 2018 at SIBM, Pune.
The program aimed to enhance faculties and researchers with fundamental Statistical and Mathematical methods/techniques for estimation and assessment of research outcome with the help of empirical data and helped in capacity building of teachers and researchers in dealing with the empirical data. It immensely helped the participants to improve their ability in carrying out research and consulting in the field of social science and confidence and broaden the scope for further research. Main focus was on application of quantitative tools through software.

Basic Econometrics And Time Series Data Analysis' FDP

Realising the rising importance of quantitative research methods in the domain of economics and social science, Symbiosis Teaching Learning Resource Centre and Symbiosis school of Economics in collaboration with The Indian Econometric Society organised a six day long FDP on Basic Econometrics and Time Series Data Analysis from 20th-26th November, 2017. Dr Jyoti Chandiramani, Director, SSE and Dr.Shrabani Mukherjee, Associate Professor, SSE have conducted the whole event.
This FDP has purely focused on the theory and applications of Basic Econometrics and Time Series Data Analysis. The program emphasised on recent developments in econometric tools and will present hand on training on software through practical sessions.
The sessions have been conducted by Prof. M. Ramachandran, Vice President, TIES Dr. S. Raja Sethu Durai, Associate Professor. University of Hyderabad; Dr. Shrabani MukherjeeAssociate Professor, SSE; Dr. Ranjan Dash,Assistant Professor, SSE'Dr. Bidyut K. Ghosh,Assistant Professor, SSE, who have proven track record in dealing Econometrics.
We have been receiving excellent feedback for the FDP from our participants. All the speakers were excellent and delivered all the session very well.It was a great learning experience and a motivation to work in the area of Economics and Finance using the econometrics approach. This helped the participants to improve their research acumen..
